Dartford Cricket Club –  Free Dementia Awareness Session

📅 Date: Monday 11th November 2025  – 7pm Start.
📍 Venue: Hesketh Park Pavilion
 

Dear Member,

On behalf of Dartford Cricket Club, I would like to cordially invite you to a free Dementia Awareness Session  that is being run for the club by one of our key sponsors, Home Instead Dartford.

We believe this is a truly valuable opportunity for our members and the wider community. The one-hour workshop will cover important topics such as:

  • Understanding Dementia: What the condition is and how it affects people.
  • Early Signs: How to recognize the early signs of dementia.
  • Positive Impact: The difference early detection can make for both the individual and their family.

With over 900,000 people living with dementia in the UK, it is a condition that likely affects many of us or our loved ones. This session, led by Home Instead’s Dementia Champion Ram, will consist of an appr. 45min presentation followed by Q&A time.

This event is open to all members, as well as their family and friends. We do, however, need to limit attendance to a maximum of 100 people. To help us with our planning, please register your interest by  book your free place below.

Juniors Autumn Indoor Training Programme – Schedule & Venue Changes

Unfortunately Wilmington Leigh Academy have announced that their Sports Hall will NOT be available from 5th November to 25 November as it will be used to host their exams.

Once again this late notification, after we have made all the bookings, has created a lot of additional work for us as we try to find alternative schedules and venues for your child’s coaching programmes.

There are very few venues in the Dartford area that provide indoor cricket facilities but we have managed to secure the best options for our Autumn programme.

Here is the revised schedules:

Softball sessions (Wednesdays at Wilmington Leigh Academy)

29 October – Session booked and confirmed

5 November – Session Cancelled

12 November – Session Cancelled

19 November – Session Cancelled

26 November – Session Booked and confirmed

3 December – New Session Booked and confirmed

10 December – New Session Booked and confirmed

Hardball training sessions (Fridays 6pm – 9pm) in two sessions.

24 October – Session booked and Confirmed at Wilmington Leigh Academy

31 October – No venue available anywhere

7 November – Sessions moved to St Columba School, Bexleyheath.

14 November – Sessions moved to St Columba School, Bexleyheath.

21 November – Sessions moved to St Columba School, Bexleyheath.

28 November – Sessions moved to St Columba School, Bexleyheath.

Juniors Autumn Indoor Training Programme

The Junior Autumn Indoor Training Programme has now been confirmed.

The venue will be Wilmington Leigh Academy (as last Spring).

Softball sessions for children in School Years 1-4 will be held weekly starting on Wednesday 15th October 6pm -7:30 until Wednesday 26th November.

Hardball training sessions will start on Friday 17th October until 28th November.

Session 1:  6pm – 7:30 will be for children in School Years 5 -7

Session 2 : 7:30 – 9pm will be for children in School Year 8 onwards.

The annual Junior Section Presentation evening will be held on Friday 19th September 2025 in the main function hall at Hesketh Park.

DCC Ladies meet the Hundred Teams!

On Wednesday,6th August, KP Snacks celebrated the installation of their 100th non turf pitch at Charlton Park in Greenwich. The celebration event includes a community cricket match, with stars from London Spirit and Oval Invincibles playing with local community members.  England men and  women’s players playing and a lot of media!

Our Ladies team attended the event and socialised with famous names for both the ladies and men’s Hundred teams.

It was a fantastic event and the ladies had a brilliant time!

KCC Awards

Kent County Cricket Club Awards

The Club is delighted to announce that Mrs Pat Lippiatt and Surge Singh Birring, two of our Life Members, have been recognised by Kent County Cricket Club for their volunteering services to the game of cricket in the County.  

Pat has been awarded the Lifetime Achiever Award defined as “that one individual who has given many years service to your club or community group and who you could not do without”.

Surge has been awarded the Cricket Innovators Award defined as “someone who has brought new ideas and/or implemented new systems to improve your club or community group” 

These Awards form part of the fifteen awards promoted under the ECB “Cricket Collective Awards” initiative where each county nominates their respective fifteen recipients for national recognition by the ECB later in the year.  Obviously we wish both Pat and Surge every success in the outcome of those national awards.

In the meantime would you please join with me in congratulating both Pat and Surge on this well deserved recognition.
