Cookie tells his best DCC moments

The new featured player of the week in “Talk to me” is…

Garry Cook!

Nickname - Cookie, Cookster, Chief Wiggum.

How long have you played at the DCC - About 15 seasons.

Best Game played in - Probably Bexley away in the standard, a win against local rivals after looking like we had blown it. Plus the celebrations were legendary and included Ronny T and I carrying Randy on our shoulders around the Millers. Full toss on leg stump – dealt with – “Mine’s a WKD” (Rager).

Funniest DCC moment off the pitch - Napper scoring on a hot sunny day and consuming vast amounts of water before realising he needs to relieve some of the fluid on board, cue a spilliage whilst using the emergency bottle and a broken lap top! Other than that any memory of Cozza from the Bournemouth Tour, one word – lunatic.

Funniest cricketing moment - In a Sunday game vs Bexley, Nosey Parker at the crease striking it well sends an exocet missle towards the Bexley umpire (ringer for Blakey on the buses) cleaning him up. Only amusing because the umpire was ok and suffered no long term injury. Or a random drunk fielding next to me at Meopham was fairly amusing.

Best Trainer - Probably MLR always turns up and works hard at his game.

Worst trainer - Difficult due to the number under consideration and I don’t want to be negative about anyone at the club!

The Joker - Lewis Knight. Quite a funny young man, always entertaining or almost always entertaining. Needs to channel some of it towards his cricket as do others.

Favourite all time cricketer - Club: Gary Whatman – decent. Pro: Shane Warne – very decent.

Favourite DCC song - “He’s got a big head he’s a newly wed Napper, Napper!” Even better when sung at his house with Nosey falling through the fence, or G-love doing the spider man from the bathroom window! Good times and the song is about a Dartford legend.

Top DCC Score - 144

Best Figures for the DCC - I recall a five wicket hall against St Lawarence in the 2’s in the late 90’s and a 3 wicket spin masterclass in the 1’s against Gravesend – Ha!

Favourite Grounds - Royal Hesketh (The home of cricket), Bromley Common (Road).

Disliked Grounds - HSBC we always seem to lose there.

Who is your DCC hero/inspiration - Rossi – class act, gentleman and Dartford cricketing Royalty.
