Cricket Force 2010 face-lift for Hesketh Park
Date of story: 09 Apr 2010Cricketers of all ages join forces to improve facilities at one of the world’s oldest clubs...
Dartford Cricket Club’s Hesketh Park ground recently received a much needed facelift as volunteers aged from teenagers to 70 plus teamed up as part of the Cricket Force initiative.
Cricket Force aims to support club members to improve their own facilities. Volunteers included a diverse age range with senior playing members working alongside junior players and their parents. Tasks they completed include painting, repairing the roof on a storage garage, maintaining practice facilities and clearing areas of the ground.
Chairman Harry Bright said “I would like to thank all of the volunteers. Their hard work demonstrates the great atmosphere and determination to have a successful 2010 season at the club.”
Dartford Cricket Club was established in 1727, making it one of the oldest clubs in the world. Kent County Cricket Club used to play at their Hesketh Park Ground. The club is seeking funding to redevelop its pavilion and clubhouse, which is desperately needed to secure the club’s future.
The club welcomes new playing and non-playing members for the new season which starts with friendlies this month. For more details please contact the Hon. Secretary, Mrs Pat Lippiatt on 01322 275389 or by email to palippiatt@aol.com
